Art Education: I am currently studying for my BFA at Northern Illinois University.
Style: Imaginative realism.
Creative Spark: I adore mythology and fables. Learning about other cultures’ tall tales and customs is fascinating. I love to read about them, grab my sketchbook, and write down whatever I think could translate well into a painting.
Second-Choice Career: College professor, teaching art and art history.
Other Passions: I love pottery and ceramic art. I have an old kiln from 1997 that I use to fire my ceramics in a shed in my backyard.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I am putting myself through college with money I make from my part-time job and from my art.
Best Advice Received: “Do what you love, and you won’t work a day in your life.” And also, “Draw what you see, not what you think you know.”
Biggest Fear: Bugs.
Pet Peeve: When people ask me what I’m going to do with my degree.
Quirkiest Trait: My studio is my bedroom, so it’s cramped. I can’t start painting until I make my bed.
Favorite Studio Music: Lately I have been listening to classic hits. But I also like to play television shows in the background. My go-to shows are Parks and Recreation and The Walking Dead.
Price Range: $100 to $1,000.
