Missouri
Art Education: I’m primarily self-taught. I have learned most of what I know from mentors and workshops, and lots of practice.
Style: Realistic. I mostly paint in oils, but I also use other mediums such as charcoal, graphite, and watercolor, and occasionally I sculpt in clay.
Creative Spark: I’ve had an insatiable fascination with animals and wildlife for as long as I can remember. Nature is full of patterns, balance, emotions, and variety in colors and textures. It is the fuel for my desire to create.
Second-Choice Career: Wildlife conservation.
Other Passions: Riding and training horses, traveling, camping, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing the violin.
Best Advice Received: Focus on values, use the largest brush you’re comfortable with, and remember to photograph animals’ habitats for reference material.
Biggest Fear: Losing the tens of thousands of wildlife reference photos that I’ve spent so much time and travel to attain.
Pet Peeve: Technology that will not cooperate.
Mantra or Motto: “Power through it.”
Favorite Work by Another Artist: ARCTIC PROCESSION by John Seerey-Lester.
Future Goals: To use my work to benefit wildlife and bring conservation awareness to as many people as I can. To have my work accepted into a few prestigious art shows and be represented by my favorite galleries.
Price Range: $800 to $5,500.
