Art Education: Rees Atelier in Mesa, AZ.
Style: Contemporary realism.
Second-Choice Career: I am still seriously considering homesteading.
Other Passions: Cooking, and reading or knitting by an evening fire.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I was homeschooled, which allowed my family to travel and visit museums frequently.
Best Advice Received: I credit Daniel Keys for giving me the courage to pursue an art career. Attending his Palette Project, a free workshop for young artists, was influential. One piece of advice I received was in conversation with guest artist Forrest Dickison. I brought up my indecision about focusing on fine art or illustration, and
Forrest told me, “Just pick one and commit to it.”
Biggest Fear: My biggest fear in art is becoming stagnant. I don’t want to be too scared to try new things.
Pet Peeve: Social media as a way of viewing artwork.
Favorite Studio Music: I have listened to the Harry Potter series so many times that it has become a soothing background narrative.
Future Goals: One day I would like to have a school where I work with students to not just expand their technical skills but also discuss the direction of art, why we paint, and what we hope to do with it.
Price Range: $450 to $7,000.
Representation: Bowersock Gallery, Provincetown, MA; www.morganlaplante.com.
