Art Education: BFA from Laguna College of Art + Design in Laguna Beach, CA.
Style: Contemporary realism. I paint mostly allegorical figurative work and some still lifes.
Creative Spark: Seeing new and unusual color combinations, going to new places, art museums, artsy films, and odd music videos.
Second-Choice Career: Special-effects makeup artist for movies, or a comedian.
Other Passions: Traveling, healthy living, teaching, and plants.
Best Advice Received: I live by the advice, “Don’t get hung up on the what-ifs. Just show up and try, because that is all we can ever do.”
Biggest Fear: A zombie apocalypse and flying roaches.
Pet Peeves: Strong perfume, a dirty palette, and car air fresheners.
Quirkiest Trait: Spontaneous bursts of dancing between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Mantra or Motto: “Everything will go well.”
Favorite Work by Another Artist: I love works by Nick Alm, Zoey Frank, Jeremy Lipking, Joseph Todorovich, Kenny Harris, Brett Amory, and Will St. John. I had the privilege of seeing Ron Hicks’ work in person at the LA Art Show; it was the first time I felt teary-eyed looking at a body of work.
Future Goals: In no particular order: travel, have a solo show, earn an MFA, paint a large mural, and have a huge garden.
Price Range: $500 to $2,500.
