Art Education: I’m predominately self-taught, but I have been fortunate to be mentored along the way by equine artist Michelle Grant.
Style: Pastel on black paper.
Creative Spark: My inspiration comes from the traditional cowboy lifestyle. There is an artistry of its own found within that way of life, from the skills of great horsemanship to the beauty and function of handmade gear. Every time I go to a local branding, I always come back inspired to hit the studio with new ideas.
Second-Choice Career: Rancher. Nothing makes me happier than a day of hard work with the animals.
Other Passions: Horses have always been a large part of my life. I’ll take any chance I can to take my horses into the mountains or help my friends at their ranches.
Best Advice Received: “Exposure kills.” You can’t make it in life working for exposure alone. You need to believe in your work and stand up for what it’s worth.
Biggest Fear: Letting people down.
Quirkiest Trait: I never leave home without my sunglasses. Even if its pitch black, I’ll normally have a pair with me.
Mantra or Motto: Even if it breaks your heart and the outcome may not go as well as you hoped, it’s always worth it to take the chance.
Favorite Studio Music: Depends on my mood, but I can always get inspired by Adrian “Buckaroogirl” Brannan.
Future Goals: I want to start showing my work in the United States and design a poster for my hometown Calgary Stampede.
Price Range: $250 to $3,000.
