Wisconsin
Art Education: I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. I minored in both equestrian studies and art history.
Style: A mixture of pop and realism. I enjoy working in bright colors but with a detailed, recognizable image. First I draw out the image before using acrylics as an underpainting. Then I use oils on the final layers.
Creative Spark: Bold colors, unique perspectives, and a good audiobook.
Other Passions: Horseback riding. I love running and hiking. I am training right now for my first half-marathon in August. I also love gardening. Our house, both inside and outside, has many plants.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I am dyslexic. Vowels give me the most trouble. I struggle a lot with pronouncing and spelling people’s last names. Thank goodness for spell-check.
Best Advice Received: There are two things you can control—your attitude and your effort.
Biggest Fear: Heights, bridges, and flying.
Quirkiest Trait: I get up every weekday morning at 4:45 a.m. and every weekend morning at 6 a.m. and sweep the floors in our house. I find it almost like meditating. I like to start the day with a clean house.
Mantra or Motto: “You are defined not by life’s imperfect moments, but by your reaction to them. There is joy in embracing rather than running from the utter absurdity of life.”
Future Goals: To work as a full-time artist.
