Colorado
Art Education: Self-taught. I am part of a very creative family.
Style: Impressionistic realism.
Creative Spark: Few things inspire me more than looking into the eyes of an animal and feeling its soul speak to me. With that, every nuance of its portrait—eyes, fur, whiskers, and ears—come alive for me.
Second-Choice Career: None. Painting is who I am. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I help my father care for the mountain lions at our rehabilitation center. We have a licensed mountain lion sanctuary where we provide lifelong homes for five mountain lions.
Biggest Fear: A charging grizzly bear.
Pet Peeve: Dog hair. We own a husky who is a constant source of fur around the house. I am constantly vacuuming up the fur.
Quirkiest Trait: Dressing well. I wear a bow tie and nice clothes when I am painting or out hiking in the woods. This makes me feel more confident and assured in whatever I am doing. You will never see me in public wearing a T-shirt.
Favorite Studio Music: Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, and Keith Urban.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: Anything by Andrew Tischler, James Gurney, Robert Bateman, and John Banovich.
Future Goals: Continue to grow my art business, improve my skills as an artist, and sell my works throughout the world.
Price Range: $250 to $3,000.
Representation: Manitou Art Center, Manitou Springs, CO; Red Gravy, Colorado Springs, CO; Salida SteamPlant Event Center, Salida, CO; www.codyoldham.com.
