State in Which You Reside: California.
Art Education: I minored in fine art while attending California State University-Fresno. I also credit the book Alla Prima II by Richard Schmid and workshops by Daniel Keys.
Style: Representational with loose, painterly brush strokes.
Creative Spark: The beauty in God’s creation. I’ve always been attracted to flowers and antiques, so they’re often my subjects.
Second-Choice Career: Teach at the college level or go into business as an entrepreneur.
Other Passions: Fitness, gardening, cooking, and reading, particularly classic literature.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: While on a choir trip in Paris, I saw Notre-Dame when it was on fire.
Best Art Advice Received: Stop, step back, and look at your work with a fresh perspective.
Biggest Fear: Not having enough time to paint.
Pet Peeve: Disorganization. I have a definite preference for tidiness and efficiency.
Quirkiest Trait: I like to watch thriller and sci-fi movies from the 1930s and 1940s.
Mantra or Motto: Always be willing to learn and improve.
Favorite Studio Music: It depends on my mood and my painting subject.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: I admire John Singer Sargent’s exquisite work.
Future Goals: I plan to finish my business administration degree within the next two years. I’d also love to continue to improve my painting and eventually have a solo show.
