Young artist to watch in 2022
Country in Which You Reside: Canada.
Art Education: I started drawing from the moment I could hold a pencil. My parents enrolled me in art lessons with local artist Jane Romanishko when I was 12. By 13, I had sold my first painting. I continued my art education in high school with art teacher Marda Wright and took art classes as electives at university.
Style: Western-influenced with a realistic style impacted by my upbringing in the agriculture industry.
Second-Choice Career: Agronomy or ranching.
Other Passions: Horses and horseback riding. I’ve been riding as long as I’ve been drawing.
Best Art Advice Received: One of my high school teachers said that the difference between good art and great art is that great art makes its audience feel some emotion.
Biggest Fear: Failing to become a full-time artist and not sharing my talent and the true representation of western culture.
Pet Peeve: When other people’s dogs jump on me.
Quirkiest Trait: I work my best when I’m completely alone.
Mantra or Motto: There’s no “right” time. There’s just time and what you choose to do with it.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: I admire Doug Levitt’s work—from his style and subjects to his talent in the industry.
Future Goals: Spend more time developing my artwork into a full-time business, including having my own studio and gallery and teaching others how to draw.
Price Range: $300 to $5,200.
