From: Oklahoma.
Art Education: BFA in studio art from the University of New Mexico. Currently I’m an MFA candidate at the University of Oklahoma. But the most valuable teaching I’ve received came from my mentors, John and Terri Kelly Moyers.
Style: Contemporary wildlife art. Recently I have enjoyed combining realistic wildlife with graphic, flattened, or patterned backgrounds.
Creative Spark: I adore children’s books and the innocence of relationships portrayed within them. My gears get turning when I am pondering how a child might see a moose or a bear as well as the stories they might tell.
Second-Choice Career: Run a bakery and bed-and-breakfast somewhere idyllic.
Other Passions: Cooking and baking. Growing up, I spent many an afternoon in my nana’s kitchen watching her bake pies of all sorts.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: Singing karaoke with my little sister, Heidi, is one of my favorite pastimes.
Best Advice Received: Terri Kelly Moyers once told me, “Paint with gusto.” I remember it nearly every time I paint.
Mantra or Motto: Use a bigger brush.
Favorite Studio Music: Oldies from the 1960s and ’70s. The Mamas & the Papas, Jim Croce, Fleetwood Mac, and Johnny Cash are a few of my favorites.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: Carl Rungius’ plein-air works.
Price Range: $600 to $6,500.
