Young artist to watch in 2022
State in Which You Reside: Texas.
Art Education: I submitted portfolios to Houston’s Glassell School of Art to earn course scholarships from elementary school through high school. Then I attended the Western Art Academy and graduated with a BFA from the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts and Design in 2021.
Style: Impressionistic realism.
Creative Spark: Being in nature, horseback riding, traveling, and exploring western landscapes.
Second-Choice Career: I drew 2D cartoon animation in high school and might pursue it if that style makes a comeback.
Other Passions: Hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, horseback riding, skateboarding, surfing, climbing, camping, and hammocking.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I look forward to tornados and hurricanes (not the damage, though), and I really love tornado sirens.
Biggest Fear: Running into car trouble while on a busy freeway.
Quirkiest Trait: I’ll climb almost anything. It’s fun to see things from a higher perspective.
Mantra or Motto: “If I can do it, you can do it.”
Favorite Work by Another Artist: HIDALGO by Teresa Elliott. Her cattle paintings stood out to me because of their grand scale and stunning use of color.
Future Goals: To support myself from my art career, buy my own property, travel regularly for shows, have more work in galleries, have a stable print business from my paintings, and teach a workshop here and there.
Price Range: $500 to $10,000.
Representation: Helotes Creek Studio, San Antonio, TX; www.annasophialagos.com.
