Art Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University. I will begin my master’s degree in painting this fall.

Style: Expressive realism. From afar my paintings look photo-realistic, but as you get closer to the painting you can get lost in the thick paint, bold mark-making, and textured layers.

Creative Spark: I am inspired when I see beautiful colors, movement, and light in the world around me. My underwater collection is inspired by exploring the sensations of peacefulness and calmness, combined with the energy from the movement of the waves you feel when submerged.

Second-Choice Career: Ice cream-flavor inventor.

Other Passions: Yoga, traveling, diving in the ocean, jewelry-making, music, and vintage fashion.

Best Advice Received: From my teacher Henry Yan: “Paint daily, preferably from life as often as you can. Turn your discouragement into motivation and work hard. Always stay hungry to create, and you will be successful.”

Quirkiest Trait: I do a wiggle dance when I’m really happy.

Mantra or Motto: “All Love, No Fear.”

Favorite Studio Music: It depends on my mood and the stage of the painting. I listen to alternative rock, rock and roll, pop, folk, and jazz. I also enjoy listening to books on tape and podcasts.

Favorite Work by Another Artist: Works by Lorraine Shemesh, Wayne Thiebaud, Gustav Klimt, Vincent van Gogh, Julio Reyes, Greg Gandy, Ann Gale, Jeremy Mann, and Carolyn Meyer.

Future Goals: To exhibit in a museum and start a family.

Representation: Skidmore Contemporary Art, Santa Monica, CA; Chloe Gallery, San Francisco, CA.
