The National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society presents its 24th annual Best of America exhibit from October 12 to 26 at the Dunnegan Gallery of Art, Bolivar, MO, and then from November 1 to 22 at the Vine Wine Bar & Gallery, Osage Beach, MO. The juried show features 102 oil and acrylic painters from across the nation, with artists bringing one piece each to the event. An opening reception is on Sunday, October 12, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Juried from a multitude of submissions, participating artists this year include Adam Clague, Cheng Lian, Sheryl Knight, Jason Sacran, William Schneider, Cecy Turner, Nina Walker, Ann Kraft Walker, Carol Lee Thompson, Dan Simoneau, Misty Martin, Miguel Malagon, William Brody, and Richard Biddinger. With a special focus on emerging artists, the show draws attention to those whose names may not yet be nationally known but whose works are worthy of collecting. “All of the artworks are very deserving, and there’s a mixture of well-known artists and also artists that have not been to too many national shows,” says NOAPS publicity director Hebe Brooks. “We have some of the best artists in America, but we also include some that are very good but not so famous.”
With a full range of styles and subject matter represented, the Best of America show offers great variety in oil and acrylic painting. “There is a combination of still lifes, landscapes, portraits and urbanscapes,” Brooks says. “And there is hyperrealism, impressionism, and everything in between.” —Joe Kovack
