Reinert Fine Art, Charleston, SC
March 31-April 30
Oil Painters of America will host its 32nd annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils at Reinert Fine Art in Charleston, South Carolina, from March 31 to April 30. The exhibition includes approximately 200 juried works of art from associate and signature members who submitted their art to be reviewed for the exhibition. Prior to the show, OPA will host its annual convention March 26 through April 1 with several events to enjoy.
“Our exhibition and convention feature a stellar lineup of internationally recognized artists,” says Susan Amba, artist and president of OPA. “There is a jam-packed schedule for artists and collectors to enjoy great paintings, demos, informational sessions, see the latest in art supplies, and see and/or purchase some of the best paintings available anywhere.”
As in previous years, the exhibition will include an array of subject matter and styles that collectively highlight the individual talents of the artists. There will be still lifes, landscapes, figurative work, and more on view, all at a range of price points so that collectors can find exactly what fits their buying needs.
Along with the juried works of art, master signature members of OPA are encouraged to submit new paintings. James Tennison will present his painting WINTER LIGHT, while David A. Leffel shows mastery of still life with SPANISH BULTO WITH ROSES. Calvin Liang’s A VIEW FROM CHARLESTON is an ideal composition for the show locale; Albert Handell‘s skilled hand is the highlight of his landscape JUNE APPROACHING WEATHER; and Christopher Zhang’s figure painting CHINESE BEAUTY radiates with color and light.
The awards and recognition ceremony will take place March 30 at Charleston Music Hall from 8 to 10 p.m. The next day, March 31, from 5 to 9 p.m., Reinert Fine Art will host the opening reception. Daud Akhriev, a master signature member of the organization, will be the awards judge for 2023, and he will also host a two-part painting demonstration during the week of convention events.
In addition to the in-person exhibition, artwork is available to view online through both the gallery website and the OPA website. Work can be purchased directly from Reinert Fine Art.
