Prix de West Invitational

Despite a tornado alert that sent artists and patrons to the basement of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK, the Prix de West Invitational Exhibition and Sale in June was a success, with sales reaching $1.9 million. The Prix de West Award went to Kent Ullberg for his bronze of two sea otters. The piece, Ocean’s Cradle, will be added to the museum’s permanent collection. Howard Terpning won the Frederic Remington Award for his oil painting The River’s Gift. Fellow exhibiting artists chose Dan Gerhartz as the winner of the Robert Lougheed Memorial Award for his display of four paintings. Curt Walters won the Nona Jean Hulsey Rumsey Buyer’s Choice Award.
