What kind of artwork do you collect? Representational paintings with an emphasis on landscapes, still life, florals, and animals, as well as a large number of bronze sculptures.

How would you describe your approach to collecting? We just buy what we like, and we both like the same things.

How many pieces have you acquired over the years? Approximately 400 paintings and more than 50 bronzes.

How long have you been collecting? 45 to 50 years.

How did you get started? We bought two acrylic paintings from a department store in California.

What was the first piece you purchased? An original painting of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

What’s your most recent acquisition? Our most recent purchase is a small painting by Pauline Roche that we bought in July.

What’s on your wish list for the future? Paintings by Richard Schmid, Robert Duncan, and Sonya Terpening.

What piece do visitors comment on the most? A large oil painting of the Grand Canyon by Bill Hughes, a deceased artist.

Is there a piece that got away? A Richard Schmid interior.

Where do you purchase art? From many galleries in the western states, auctions, and museum shows.
