By Bonnie Gangelhoff
ART EDUCATION: I studied with Juliette Aristides at her atelier in Seattle, WA. That’s the most important. I also have a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Michigan, and I studied at the Art Students League of New York.
STYLE: Contemporary realism.
MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT THE WAY YOU WORK: I can never sleep the night before I start a new painting. I’m keyed up with anticipation. The first day of painting a piece is the most important.
SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: Something arts related, like a writer, photographer, or film director.
BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: I have heard this from several people: mind your weakness and work at it until it’s your strength.
CREATIVE SPARK: I love to look at masterworks in books and museums.
PRICE RANGE: $1,200 to $18,000.
