Tonalist Landscapes

If One Looked at the Hills by Michael Workman

Santa Fe, NM | Creating moods both mysterious and compelling, Utah artist Michael Workman renders tonalist landscapes with a dreamy effect. “I’m not trying to copy nature. I’m trying to create an emotional response,” says Workman. Painting on plywood panels, he uses subtle colors and luminescent light to capture a feeling of peace and serenity. A one-man show of Workman’s paintings unfolds this month at Meyer East Gallery. Meet the artist at an opening reception on Friday, December 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show hangs through December 17.
