Charleston, SC | Art collectors flock to downtown Charleston this month for a weekend filled with art. The Charleston Fine Art Dealers’ Association (CFADA) celebrates its 12th Fine Art Annual beginning with a three-part lecture series about women in art on Wednesday, November 3, at the Gibbes Museum of Art. Then on Friday, November 5, galleries open their doors for an art stroll from 5 to 8 p.m. Galleries participating in the event include Corrigan Gallery, Ann Long Fine Art, Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art, The Sylvan Gallery, Robert Lange Studios, and Mary Martin Gallery. On Saturday, November 6, artists paint en plein air from 9 a.m. to noon in Washington Park. Artists’ works are for sale during the art auction later in the day. Also part of the event is the seventh annual high school art competition, which also takes place in Washington Park and starts at 11 a.m. Artwork created by local students is on display and reviewed by a panel of judges, and the winners are announced the same day at 11:30 a.m.

In the evening, patrons gather at the Renaissance Charleston Hotel for the Charleston Art Auction. The auction features historic and contemporary works of art by artists such as Ray Ellis, Jonathan Green, Dan McCaw, and Pino, as well as artworks from the Painting in the Park event. A preview and reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the auction at 7 p.m. Tickets to the event are $50, which includes a catalog. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Charleston County High Schools’ art programs. For more information: 843.722.2172 or www.cfada.com or www.charlestonartauction.com.
