21 Under 31: Young Artists to Watch in 2016

Our annual spotlight on emerging artists

By Bonnie Gangelhoff

Let us introduce you to the next generation of talented artists—all of them under the age of 31. We polled art schools, galleries, and instructors to find some of the most promising young painters in the country. This year’s artists hail from across the West and across the country. Their work ranges from compelling figurative pieces to fresh takes on the landscape, as well as exquisite still lifes, urban scenes, and more. They are an inspired and dedicated group who work hard and dream big. Enjoy the fruits of their labors.
