ART EDUCATION: Bachelor and master of fine arts from the Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, FL.

STYLE: Representational, interpretative realism; contemporary impressionism. It depends somewhat on the subject matter.

The Cellist, oil, 20 x 16.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WINNING PAINTING: I’ve always been drawn to the movement of string performers. I find that everything from their hand positions to their expressions to their postures is a grand work of art.

SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: Graphic design, illustration, photography, or anything that communicates through creative problem solving. I also considered studying engineering in college.

BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: Paint what you see, not what you think you see, and also squint. Much of the best painting advice has little to do with how to paint but, rather, how to see.

CREATIVE SPARK: Any unexpected or momentary beauty, especially as it relates to the portrait and figure—it whispers the name of our creator.

BIGGEST FEAR: Being successful at something that doesn’t matter.

PET PEEVE: When I become my own worst enemy by keeping myself away from the easel.

FUTURE GOALS: To continually grow and learn as an artist.

PRICE RANGE: $500 to $5,000.
