Colorado still-life and figurative painter
Art Education: The Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Italy.
Style: Realism.
Creative Spark: Growing up in Sweden, I always had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature. Later I worked in an interior-design store and became fascinated with beautiful design. After studying classical painting in Italy, I fell in love with the human form. Today I attempt to draw inspiration from all of my various influences. I love to paint portraits, and I can live out my passion for decorating in my still lifes.
Second-Choice Career: Before I started painting professionally, I worked in clothing and furniture boutiques. I think I would have eventually opened my own shop and started an interior-design business.
Best Advice Received: To always follow my ambitions and never settle for less.
One Thing Most People Don’t Know About You: My name used to be Malin, but I changed it when I turned 16. There were so many girls in my class named Malin that I was Malin 5. I was tired of being a number, so I started going by my middle name, Cecilia.
Biggest Fear: To not succeed as an artist.
Future Goals: To live exclusively from selling my work and to be recognized in the art community.
Price Range: $500 to $6,000.
Representation: Arts at Denver, Denver, CO; Gallery at Rich Designs, Colorado Springs, CO; www.ceciliathorell.com.
