IDAHO

ART EDUCATION: I have a bachelor’s in art education from Boise State University, Boise, ID, but a two-year apprenticeship with Robert Moore has been the most valuable educational experience by far.

STYLE: I would say I have an impressionistic style. I like a lot of paint and color. I work with a palette knife or trowel quite a bit. I like to see the movement of the artist in a painting; knife work and big brush strokes are exciting to me.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WINNING PAINTING: A warm summer day in Missoula, MT. I love biking because it saves gas and it is fun, too. I also love the shapes and design elements in bikes.

Summer Cruisin, oil, 24 x 36.

SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: I taught drawing and painting for three years at the high school level. I really enjoyed getting to know the students and seeing their excitement as they progressed. I would probably be a teacher again, or maybe I would build custom bicycles.

BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: Plant good seeds.

CREATIVE SPARK: Good coffee and music. I also get sparked when I see great design in art, old machines, or creation. Another really important thing as an artist is to work with other artists and help each other get fired up.

ONE THING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU: When I’m painting and a good song comes on, I occasionally break out some sweet dance moves.

BIGGEST FEAR: Running out of white paint (but maybe that would be a good thing).

PET PEEVE: When good things go to waste.

FUTURE GOALS: To support my family with painting sales.

PRICE RANGE: $450 to $6,000.
