Art Education: I studied for three years with Ryan Brown at the Center for Academic Study and Naturalist Painting (now the Masters Academy of Art) in Springville, UT.
Creative Spark: Beauty just pops up everywhere. Oftentimes, right before I fall asleep at night, ideas and images arrange themselves before my shut eyes.
Second-Choice Career: I worked as a historic preservation intern in college and loved the “detective” work.
Other Passions: Traveling! I have visited Brazil four times, and I’ve explored all over Europe while living in Poland for my husband’s medical school training.
One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I went through childbirth in a public hospital in Poland.
Best Advice Received: Take the time to find your “style.”
Biggest Fear: That I won’t live up to my own standard of creating masterful art.
Pet Peeve: When people say “I wish I could draw.” No, you don’t. If you did, you would do something about it.
Quirkiest Trait: I love cemeteries.
Mantra or Motto: Keep the promises you make to yourself.
Favorite Studio Music: I have to paint in silence so I can hear when my baby wakes up. But honestly, I get so pulled into my work and thought process that I’ve never noticed if music is on or not.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: It’s impossible to pick just one! This week I’ve spent a lot of time admiring Philip de László; last week it was Anders Zorn.
Future Goals: To paint beautiful and inspiring works that will help elevate the current standard of fine art. Also, I want to build an awesome studio space.
Price Range: $300 to $3,000.
