Art Education: Bachelor of fine arts from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Style: Expressive realism. My work is influenced by many different styles of painting. I am particularly drawn to artists who explore spiritual and transcendental themes as well as social depth in their work.

Creative Spark: I receive inspiration primarily through prayer and through my life experiences. Art is inherently spiritual to me. I am a Catholic, and growing in my spirituality inevitably leads to profound inspiration in my art.

Second-Choice Career: Painting instructor.

Other Passions: I write spoken-word poetry that deals with themes similar to those found in my art.

One Thing People Don’t Know About You: I am a first-generation Filipino-American.

Best Advice Received: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?”

Favorite Studio Music: I am influenced by urban culture and listen to lots of positive hip-hop when working. Dy-Verse, Rabelz, and Derek Minor are some of my favorite recording artists. I am also a big fan of Celtic artists like Moya Brennan and Clannad.

Future Goals: To create a positive impact on the world through my art by being authentic and reflecting on the state of our culture. One day I also hope to make some work based on the plight of the poor in the Philippines.

Price Range: $300 to $4,000.

Representation: Sunnyvale Art Gallery, Sunnyvale, CA; Aurora Art Studios, San Rafael, CA; Gary Francis Fine Art, Alameda, CA.
