Although painter Wendy Goldberg-Hammond has lived in Northern California for many years and finds inspiration in the area's moody light and terrain, she also makes frequent trips to the East Coast and is equally inspired by that region's landscapes and dramatic skies. Whether she paints a landscape or still-life tableau, her works often convey a sense of mystery and atmosphere-a storm seems to lurk on the horizon, or a bowl of fruit beckons the viewer to create a narrative surrounding it. This month Quicksilver Mine Co. presents new pastel drawings and paintings by Hammond-Goldberg. Meet the artist at a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on December 13. The show is on view December 12 to January 18.
