“We asked the artists to submit what they consider their best new work for this exhibition,” says gallery director Julia Novy of Ann Korologos Gallery’s first Best of the West show. The show features the work of nine gallery-represented artists and opens with a reception on Friday, January 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Legacy Gallery celebrates the season with its 15th Annual Holiday Small Works Show, which features a wide array of artwork, all sized no larger than 12 by 16 inches. More than 100 artists, including Legacy’s top painters and sculptors as well as a few guests, each bring several works to the exhibition.
Evergreen Fine Art recognizes that big things come in small packages with its sixth annual Miniature Masterpieces show. The exhibition features 50 artists selected from Evergreen’s stable, along with several guests, and offers well over 100 pieces, all of which measure less than 120 square inches.
Early on in his fine-art career, Steven Hileman couldn’t imagine becoming a landscape painter. But today he admits that his artistic eye is naturally drawn to the scenes that surround him in Maine’s mid-coastal region. Hileman points out that the variety in the landscape—subject matter, light, texture, and mood—keep him intrigued.
