The Land of Enchantment has become synonymous with many distinctive emblems—chiles and frijoles, for example, and don’t forget bizcochitos. Old Spanish churches and adobe pueblos conjure images of New Mexico, too, not to mention roadrunners, whiptail lizards, piñon pines, and yucca. With so many colorful offerings, it’s no wonder the state is home to a vibrant, ever growing community of fine artists. In the following pages, we present a sampling of New Mexico painters and sculptors who portray everything from Native American narratives to landscapes and florals. If you’re an art lover, you’re sure to be enchanted by these works.
