21 Under 31 | Kyle Stuckey

By Bonnie Gangelhoff

ART EDUCATION: My senior year in high school I took art lessons with a tutor, Lori Simmons. I’ve occasionally painted as a guest with Richard Schmid. And I have studied with Mike Malm at the Scottsdale Artists’ School.
STYLE: Interpretative realism.
MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT THE WAY YOU WORK:
I try to use a lot of color, particularly colors that will pop on the canvas and harmonize the painting.
SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: Law enforcement.
BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: Know that you are not going to get it right the first time, but try again and keep going forward.
CREATIVE SPARK:
I mostly focus on the figure, so the human elements inspire me—the emotions in the face and the body language. I use the person to create a story in the painting, and that is exciting to me.
PRICE RANGE:
$1,000 to $8,000.
GALLERIES: Monadnock Fine Art Gallery, Keene, NH; www.kylestuckey.com.
