Portfolio: Deep in the Heart of Texas | Bob Rohm

“I enjoy painting rural southwestern scenes and capturing the feeling of undisturbed places. I recently moved to the Texas Hill Country from Dallas and like the western feeling of the landscape with the cactus, oak trees, and rolling hills. This piece was painted in Luckenbach, which is in the Hill Country near Fredericksburg. I was attracted to the vintage truck and how it contrasted with the dark, weathered wood of the building. I like the way the colors played against each other. The challenge was to capture the nostalgic feeling of the building and the old truck without making it seem trite or cute.”
