ART EDUCATION: Bachelor of fine arts from the Academy of Art
University, San Francisco, CA.

STYLE: Realism.

And Truth Sprang From His Beak, oil, 24 x 18.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WINNING PAINTING: In Native American symbolism, the Plains tribes believe that robins are a sign to only present the truth when speaking. They associate the robin’s beak color with listening to the spoken word. My idea was that there was someone who was listening to the robin and learning a truth about herself.

SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: Writer.

BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: Don’t get bogged down in your mistakes. Just keep working. Get better every day.

CREATIVE SPARK: A project I started with my husband, Shane, who is
a painter, and a friend of ours. We had to create work based on seven different words, and “whimsy” was one of our assignments. That
was the creative spark for my body of work. I love playing in the whimsical realm.

PET PEEVE: When artists put more thought into their artist statements than their artwork.

FUTURE GOALS: To continue painting and advance my technique
and concept.

PRICE RANGE: $600 to $6,500.
