Claggett/Rey Gallery reaches a major milestoneVAIL • On July 3 Claggett/Rey Gallery has cause to celebrate—20 years in business and still representing artists who are at the top of their field. To honor the occasion the gallery is showing works by artists it represents, including Jim Rey, Dave McGary, and Joe Beeler, who have been with the gallery from the very beginning. Among the array of other artists featured in the show are Laura Robb, Walt Gonske, and Gerald Fritzler. The gallery’s artists are members of such prestigious organizations as the National Sculpture Society, Cowboy Artists of America, Plein Air Painters of America, and Oil Painters of America. Top sculpture shows open in the Rockies
LOVELAND • Sculpture lovers and collectors from across the country converge in this scenic town next month for the Sculpture in the Park and Loveland Sculpture Invitational shows, which take place the weekend of August 7-9. The Loveland High Plains Arts Council presents the Sculpture in the Park show and sale at Benson Sculpture Garden. The juried outdoor display features works by more than 150 top artists, including Linda Prokop, Kevin Box, Kathy Caricof, Madeline Wiener, and Tony Hochstetler. Plein Air in the Mountains
TELLURIDE • Talented landscape painters from across the country converge here this month for the annual Telluride Plein Air show and sale. For several days, the 30 painters fan out across the area to capture the scenic mountain town and its surroundings on canvas. On July 3 and 4 the artists display the week’s creations at Elks Park and the courtyard in front of the historic Sheridan Opera House. DENVER • Art and environmental enthusiasts come together in a show at the Denver Botanic Gardens this month. The juried show presents works by 17 Colorado artists who address the extinction of various animal species. Included in the presentation are both literal and metaphorical interpretations of extinction and the resulting feelings of anxiety that are often present as a result of the destruction of a habitat. DENVER • Painter Jill Soukup curates an all-female art presentation at Showings Fine Art this month. The 10 sculptors and painters hail from across the country.
